Marathi Typing Online

This keyboard follows a scheme which is somewhat similar to IAST (International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration) transliteration scheme. There are some variations but they are not too difficult to understand.

Keyboard Rules

Use a vowel after a consonent to put 'matra' to the consonent. e.g.

• Use 'i' after the consonent to get ह्रस्व​ इ मात्रा and 'ii' to get दीर्घ ई मात्रा.
  e.g. 'mi' would result into 'मि' and 'mii' would result in 'मी'
• Use 'u' after the consonent to get ह्रस्व​ उ मात्रा and 'uu' to get दीर्घ ऊ मात्रा.
  e.g. 'ku' would result into 'कु' and 'kuu' would result in 'कू'

Dental and Retroflexes

• For dentals 'त्', 'थ्', 'द्', 'ध्', 'न्', use 't', 'th', 'd', 'dh', 'n' respectively. Add 'a' after them to get a complete consonent.
• For retroflexes, 'ट्', 'ठ्', 'ड्', 'ढ्', 'ण्', use upper case letters 'T', 'Th', 'D', 'Dh', 'N'.

• अ/आ + ए/ऐ = ऐ
